Knowledge Transfer for Blue Growth
COLUMBUS (2015-2018) aims to ensure that applicable knowledge generated through EC-funded science and technology research can be transferred effectively to advance the governance of the marine and maritime sectors while improving competitiveness of European companies and unlocking the potential of the oceans to create future jobs and economic growth in Europe (Blue Growth). COLUMBUS gathers strategic marine and maritime organisations working together as a multidisciplinary team and active network for efficiently managing collected Knowledge and achieving Knowledge Transfer impacts through defined methodology.

EurOcean´s major role is to lead the identification, collection and monitoring of past and current research activity with a view to collecting Knowledge Outputs focused on 9 identified priority areas, named Competence Nodes:

Fisheries- Aquaculture - Monitoring & Observation - Maritime Biological Resources - Marine Physical Resources -Maritime Tourism- Marine Environment & Futures - Marine Governance & Management - Maritime Transport & Logistics

The collected Knowledge Outputs will be included in the EurOcean maintained Marine Research Knowledge Gate. EurOcean´s other significant contribution will be in relation to the organisation of an annual Blue Society Knowledge Transfer conference and the development of an annual Blue Society award.
