The Las Palmas Botanical Gardens [Jardín Botánico Canario “Viera y Clavijo”-Unidad Asociada CSIC of the Consejería de Medio Ambiente y Emergencias (Cabildo de Gran Canaria)], organises the FLORAMAC 2015 congress, with the support of the Unesco-Unitwin Chair for the “Conservation of Plant Biodiversity in Macaronesia and the West of Africa”. The eevent will be held from March 24th to March 27th 2015 in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.

FLORAMAC 2015 aims to bring together some of the most significant researchers devoted to the investigation of different aspects of the Macaronesian terrestrial and marine floras. Its main objective is to share existing and developing knowledge on the past and present evolution and diversity of the unique (but also extremely fragile, and increasingly threatened) floras of Macaronesia, with a view to contribute to their best conservation and management. This is the 3rd event in the FLORAMAC history, with the two previous events held in the Azores (2010) and Madeira (2012).

Registered participants are invited to present proposals for short oral presentations or posters. Please see the instructions for abstract submission in the website.

The assigned keynote speakers will include internationally renowned researchers, who will give updates on the state of the art in several different fields related to Macaronesian floras, including biogeography, phylogeny, evolution, palaeobotany, taxonomy and ecology.

Dr. Juli Caujapé-Castells, Las Palmas Botanical Gardens' Director, member of NetBiome-CSA's Stakeholders Panel and team member of one of the projects selected by the 2010 NetBiome call, is participating in the Organising Committee of the event.
